Mi Unlock is Xiaomi's official tool for unlocking the bootloader on its Android devices. With the bootloader unlocked, you can modify the recovery, get root permissions, or flash a custom ROM. All Xiaomi handsets come with the bootloader locked, but with this tool you can easily unlock it using your PC.

How to unlock the bootloader of your Android device

To use Mi Unlock, you need to enable the 'OEM Unlock' and 'USB Debugging' option in the device's settings. In addition, you will need to have your Xiaomi account linked with the device whose bootloader you are trying to unlock. This option can be found within the Developer Settings along with the other two, and requires a SIM card to be inserted in the device.

After unzipping the Mi Unlock ZIP file, you need to run the executable 'miflash_unlock.exe'. It will then prompt you to enter your Xiaomi account. Once you are inside, turn off your device. Once turned off, you have to long press the power and volume down buttons at the same time to enter Fastboot mode. In this mode, connect the device via USB to your PC, and if everything has been done correctly, you can press the 'Unlock' button.

If the Unlock button cannot be pressed, click on the cogwheel at the top of the screen, and click on the first 'Check' button to update the USB connection drivers with your Android device. This will ensure that the device is correctly connected to your PC.

You will have to wait 7 days to unlock it

Once you have done all of the above, you will have to wait a certain amount of time before you can unlock the bootloader. This period is usually 168 hours, or 7 days. After that time has elapsed, reconnect the device to your PC and click on the Unlock button. After that, you will have the bootloader unlocked.

Please note that by unlocking the bootloader you lose all the information stored on the device, since all the user data is deleted. This is done to prevent anyone from accessing your data in the event that your phone is stolen.

Download Mi Unlock to unlock the bootloader on your Xiaomi, POCO or Redmi device.
